The indications are that the production of Kalisz wafers commenced in the first half of the nineteenth century, and established approx. in 1850, as a middle class started to form and the city achieved the level of prosperity.
The incredible taste originates from flour, rapeseed oil and a bit of sugar with no preservatives or food emulsifiers.
This ecological snack, with the unchanged recipe, has been produced in Kalisz for many generations.
